Barton Wesleyan Chapel Graveyard

We are very grateful to Roger Hart for permission to present here the findings of his extensive work in surveying and documenting the graveyard and its headstones prior to the site's redevelopment. The full Graveyard Survey is a large document (173MB, PDF), so its contents have been adapted for presentation on this website as follows:

The survey begins with Acknowledgements, an Introduction and a Historical Outline and Description of the cemetery. Click here to view the text and selected images from this first part of the report.
The material can also be viewed and/or downloaded here [PDF, 16MB]. The PDF includes more images taken before, during and after the redevelopment work. [In some browsers, you may need to right-click and save the link, if you wish to download the document]

The next section of the survey consists of transcriptions of the headstones, along with some photographs of them. On this website, the transcriptions can be accessed using the MIs link on the left of this page.

Finally, there are Graveyard Maps and Plans of the Memorial Yard after development. Click each link to see those sections.

Queries relating to the full report should be sent to the OPC for this church, via the e-mail link on the left (the quill pen symbol).

All material relating to the Graveyard Survey and the MI transcription are reproduced here by kind permission and © Roger G. Hart, 2007 unless otherwise stated.
