Standard Now: In the 1882-1889 register there is a column headed “Highest Standard in which there presented”, referring to the last school attended. Towards the end of the register the column heading has been written over to read ‘Standard in which presented now’, or similar. The next set of 6 columns are headed ‘Standards in which presented to this School” and numbered I to VI. None of these columns have been entered so it is assumed that the number in the ‘Highest Standard…etc’ column always refers to the standard in Sunninghill School on the admission date. In the 1899-1895 register the equivalent column is headed “Last Standard Passed” and the columns I to VII in the “Date of passing standards in this school” are assumed to be the standard at the time of admission.

The last 3 columns are headed ‘Date of leaving’ and are empty and in the space many entries have notes such as ‘Weaving Mill’ or ‘Coal Mine’ which are entered here as Notes. Presumably they refers to school child’s occupation after leaving school.
