The Parish Chapelry of St John, Silverdale
The coastal village of Silverdale within the parish of Warton has had a chapelry since at least the 16th century, when it was established to remove the need for the difficult journey across the swampy coastal plain to the mother church in Warton. A school was also established at the same time. More recently, the original building was replaced by the current St Johns, which may be found on Emesgate Lane in Sliverdale at OS Map Reference SD 463754. |
