Miles Platting lies close to Manchester City Centre and was once part of the township of Newton Heath. It became recognised as a separate area during the Industrial Revolution when several mills, factories and closely packed back to back houses were built. The densely populated area was considered quite grim and was also dominated by the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway lines with many sidings. |
