Independent Methodism in Lowton can trace its roots back to the end of the eighteenth century. At one time there were two meeting places in Lowton, one near St Luke's and the other at Lowton Common from which the current church developed. The evolution of Independent Methodism in the area is described on the church's website. The church building in use today was the third chapel to be built, and opened in 1880. |
